While diluted bitumen tends to behave much like any other crude oil immediately after a spill, environmental exposure rapidly triggers unique chemical and physical changes, or 'weathering', that do not occur in other types of crude oil. SES is capable of responding to spills of diluted bitumen and also helping plan for and create response plans in the unlikely case of emergency.
In the event of an oil spill on a freshwater body such as a river or lake, response needs to be swift in order to contain the spill and limit environmental damage. SES has the experience and tools required to rapidly response to oil spill situations.
